Japan's Agency of Cultural Affairs Reveals Animated Works for 'Animation Talent Training Research & Study Project 2020' Initiative

The Japanese authorities’s Agency of Cultural Affairs introduced on Monday the 4 studios that may take part in its “Animation Talent Training Research & Study Project 2020″ initiative. The studios IMAGICA, Usagi.Ou, Orange, and Tsumugi Akita Anime Lab will every produce an animation mission from seven to 10 minutes in size. The works will intention to boost the talent stage of present animators, and educate aspiring animators.

The Agency of Cultural Affairs introduced the mission on July 15.

Imagica’s mission is titled “Kochira Nishi-Tokyo-shi Deliver Keisatsu/Deliver Police” with Takashi Sano (Tower of God) as director. The mission is focused at each key animators and in-between animators.

Usagi.Ou’s mission is titled “Hachimitsu Suicide Machine,” with Yūji Umoto (Ganbare! Lulu Lolo – Tiny Twin Bears, Kaiju Step Wandabada) as director. The mission is focused at animators.

Orange’s mission is titled “Want to Go Home! Semete Chikyū no Jūryokuka de,” with Akihiko Orikasa (CG chief for Ghost within the Shell Arise) as director. The mission is aimed toward administrators, scriptwriters, background artwork administrators, CG animators, and modelers.

Tsumugi Akita Anime Lab’s mission is titled “Ryūgeki no Kyōkotsu,” with Tsukasa Sakurai (animation director for Monogatari Series Second Season) as director. The mission is aimed toward animation administrators, key animators, in-between touchup, in-between checkers, and coloring checkers.

The titles of all of the above works are tentative titles.

The initiative is separate from the Agency of Cultural Affairs’ “Young Animator Training Project,” which goals to coach younger animators on-the-job. The company launched that mission in 2010 beneath the “Anime Mirai” identify, with the intention of fostering the expansion of home animation studios, and tackling the priority that extra of the Japanese animation course of is being outsourced abroad. The mission was later renamed to Anime Tamago. The mission has spawned such works as Little Witch Academia, Death Billiards (which impressed the Death Parade tv anime), and Ongaku Shōjo.
